The Chicagoland Association of Child Professionals was established in 2001. The members of CACLP include Child Life Specialists working in hospital settings, community support programs, private practices, university faculty, and newly established Child Life Specialists seeking employment.
The group's goals are to offer supportive relationships, educational resources, networking within local Child Life Programs, and the ability to earn Professional Development Units (PDU) for re-certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP). Annually, as a group, we continue to plan and implement our Community events to promote and educate children and families on the importance of pediatric healthcare issues related to preparation and education. Lastly we will evaluate the needs and potential changes for the Child Life Specialist of the Chicago area.
The CACLP strives to support child life professionals as they support the psycho-social, emotional and developmental needs of children and families; empowering children and families to cope and master challenging events throughout their lifespan. The CACLP provides advocacy, professional development and community outreach opportunities.
